Focus Group for a Focus Group with School of Humanity

Updated: Dec 7, 2022

A few weeks go, our Founder and President, Arthur, led an impromptu focus group with the the School of Humanity's creativity club. Arthur is a member of the founding high school cohort: Jupiter and frequently weaves Future Youth Impact into his project. He decided to use the opportunity of running a creativity club session to pilot a new style of focus group.

Previously, FYI have used two main strategies of youth engagement: discussion format and prompting the young people to design a perfect planet. The most successful o the methods has been the perfect planet, as it encourages the young people to use their imagination and creativity. However, we realised that perhaps when gaining the views of young people in secondary school or above certain tweaks may be required. Instead of designing their perfect planet, Arthur challenge his peers to come up with their own ideal city using more complex and intricate prompts. He delivered a condensed version of this focus group and then asked the SoH learners for the feedback. Everyone involved provided some excellent insight which we will use moving forward.

Arthur is eager to continue a relationship between Future Youth Impact and and School of Humanity in the future. We will keep you posted with regard to next steps.
